The Wind River Mountains are famous for their high mountain lake fishing.   The “Winds” are home too more than 1,600 lakes and over
1, 000 of these lakes are alive with fish.  This 90 mile long mountain range also supports 27 active glaciers and more than 500 miles of backcountry trails.  They are also home to the tallest peak in the state (Gannett Peak) 13,804 ft.  The native trout to the Winds is the cutthrought but thanks to old timers packing fingelings in milk cans on pack animals many of the lakes today thrive with Goldens, Brooks, and Makinaw.
